Snap vs Signtech Netball Showdown

Last week, Jersey Netball welcomed teams from our Volunteers sponsor, Snap, and Signtech for the netball edition of their Snap vs Signtech Showdown. This series has taken place throughout October to raise money for Dementia Jersey as part of their Boost Your Brain campaign.

With a both teams fielding players with varied levels of experience, including some total netball newbies, we enlisted the help of St Brelade and St Ouen netball clubs to offer some coaching support.

The match was competitive from the first centre, as Team Snap got into the rhythm of a new sport and quickly learned about ‘footwork’ and obstruction’. Team Signtech had the benefit of some league players, who bolstered the team and gave them confidence early on. Some fantastic shooting from Signtech gave them an early lead… but Snap were hot on their heels.

After an exciting game, Signtech ended up taking the win with a score of 23 – 15. We spoke to some of the players afterwards, who gave some quick thoughts on their encounter on the netball court:

“I haven’t played netball in a few years… I forgot how fun and tiring it is!”

“Once you get to grips with the rules, it’s a really fast game! I enjoyed it, it was a good laugh.”

“I loved that… how do I join for real?”

The good news for our new netball enthusiasts is that we have programmes for everyone at Jersey Netball… from Back to Netball to Mixed Netball!
